Our Flag – Pledge of Allegiance – NFL
Standing, removing your hat and placing your hand over your heart is a true expression of love for this country and the people that have sacrificed their lives for us. A true patriot does not kneel during the Star-Spangled Banner, but stands tall in honor of our flag and country. People that desecrate our flag are perpetuating the demise of our flag, constitution, pledge of allegiance and Bill of Rights. Our flag is a symbol for freedom, peace, and justice around the world. Our flag represents all that is right and just in America. I’m proud to be a citizen of this great country and always stand with my hand over my heart when I say the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. I’m proud to call myself a patriot and get goose bumps when I say the Pledge of Allegiance. I have told all my kids that it is an honor and privilege to have been born in the USA.
To me the NFL in general are traitors and should be prosecuted as such. I know that sounds strong, but if you did that in the military, you would be charged with treason. Dishonoring our flag and country is not acceptable for making any kind of statement. They say they are using free speech guaranteed by our constitution; however, they never made a speech. They chose out of ignorance to use the most meaningfull symbol of our democracy claiming their right to free speech. Unfortunately, they are led by ignorant people who have a false perception of free speech. I agree we all, including the NFL have a right to free speech. What I don’t agree with is the methods used to disseminate their grievances. If they want to make a statement, don’t use the symbols that are dear to all Americans and I’m talking Patriotic Citizens of the United States of America. If you want to make a statement publicly, make a speech, use the internet, send emails, make phone calls, contact your Congress Person, send a letter to the President, run a campaign, but never use our most sacred flag, pledge of allegiance as a tool to get your point across. That is nothing short of treason and if nothing else is absolutely disgusting.
What you all don’t seem to understand is the fact that you have angered at least half the population by your actions. For your information, actions don’t speak louder than words. Your actions taking the knee and not participating in the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance has caused a great divide in this country. You could have accomplished much more with far greater acceptance by making public statements rather than using our Flag and Pledge to make a non-verbal statement. I as many have lost a tremendous amount of respect for the game and its participants. Most of you are well educated, but you certainly have failed as Americans.
